On a recent episode of The Commercial Real Estate Hour, I was joined live in the studio by Alison Taylor and Kevin Anthony, to discuss a series of topics including commercial real estate deals currently taking place in the Santa Clarita Valley, the real estate program at College of the Canyons, and what it takes to obtain a real estate license.
I opened the show with some recent commercial real estate sales here in Santa Clarita.
Kevin is a Real Estate professor at College of the Canyons and Alison, who is now in real estate at Home Smart, took his classes.
The Real Estate and Restaurant Management classes at College of the Canyons is full, and has a long waiting list each semester. Kevin explains that it is a coveted class that could lead to a very profitable profession.
Next on the show Alison shares her process for helping people find their next home. She visits them at home to learn what they like, they then talk extensively about what they want to spend, and Alison pairs them with a qualified trusted lenders.
We explain that people see the sticker price on a house and don’t realize they have to also consider the insurance, taxes, Homeowners Association payments and Mello-roos on those homes. That oftentimes, makes the home more expensive than that homebuyer can afford.
